1. This rice variety is mainly grown in Kerala.
2. It is grown in irrigated lands.
3. Kaum Rice can be both short duration or medium duration.
4. The plant is small (90-93 cm).
5. Colour of the grain is red.
6. There are different varieties such as

• Kaum (IET-15096, IET-15322) whose yield is 50-55 Quintals / hectare
• Kaum (IET-14260, IET-13983) whose yield is 60-70 Quintals / hectare.
