Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations was set up in 1945 and is the main lead behind the international efforts for fighting hunger. FAO works as a neutral forum where developed as well as developing countries meet and negotiate over certain agreements, debate policies. In this way it serves all nations are treated as equals. It can also be called a medium of knowledge and information because it helps nations to modernize and work towards developing agriculture, forestry, fishery practices and guarantee better nutrition for everyone.
FAO pays special attention for the development of rural areas and providing shelter to the poor & hungry people. FAO is involved in a variety of activities such as putting information within reach, sharing policy expertise, providing a meeting space for nations and bringing knowledge to the field. It works in partnership with all kinds of institutions such as private foundations, grassroots organizations, companies, professional associations, other United Nations agencies, national governments and more.
The partnership in which FAO is involved is of different types , some of them are at national level or in the field, other partnership are regional or global in nature. The main purpose of working in partnership is to provide food security, natural resource management, forestry & fisheries, food safety etc. The knowledge forum of FAO provides a direct entrance to the organizations experience an huge knowledge about its interactive services.
